چکیده

The proliferation of portable electronic devices with high data-rate wireless communication capabilities and the increasing emphasis on energy efficiency is continuously applying pressure on the performance and power consumption of ADCs and other mixed-signal systems. Power scalable designs enable an ADC core to be reusable under different input and sampling frequency conditions improving system efficiency. The power consumption of pipeline and RD ADCs scales approximately linearly with sampling rate and roughly quadruples for every additional bit resolved. Hence, increasing the performance requirements of an ADC in a system can significantly increase the power consumption to impractical levels especially in a battery powered environment. The approaches presented in this chapter focus on design techniques for power scalable and low power pipeline and bandwidth scalable continuous-time RD ADCs. 2.

Design of robust carrier tracking systems in high dynamic and high noise conditions, with emphasis on neuro-fuzzy controller

The robust carrier tracking is defined as the ability of a receiver to determine the phase and frequency of the input carrier signal in unusual conditions such as signal loss, input signal fading, high receiver dynamic, or other destructive effects of propagation. An implementation of tight tracking can be understood in terms of adopting a very narrow loop bandwidth that contradict with the req...

A wide bandwidth, high sample rate 3 order continuous-time ΔΣ modulator using VCO-based integrators is presented. Non-idealities caused by VCOs at the modulator frontend are addressed using both circuitand architecture-level techniques. Fabricated in 65nm CMOS, the prototype modulator operates at 1.28GS/s and achieves a dynamic range of 75dB, SNR of 71dB in 50MHz bandwidth, while consuming 38mW...
